反意連接詞 Adversative Conjunction

反意連接詞連接兩個彼此意義相反的事物。

累積連結詞 and

and是累積連結詞（或稱聯結連接詞）之一，聯結兩個對等事物的連接詞。

and 連結兩個對等的事物
- My father is a teacher, and my mother is an Engineer.
  我父親是老師，母親是工程師。
and 用於三個以上事物並列時，每個事物用逗點分開，在最後一個字詞之前加上and作連結。
- We ate fish, beef, and pork.
  我們吃魚肉、牛肉及豬肉。
and 表示兩個動作發生的順序。
- They shake hands,　and (they) sit down.
  他們握手，而後坐下。
and 表示一個事物的整體概念。
- Brandy and water is my favorite drink.
  加水的白蘭地是我最喜歡的飲料。
and 用於加強語氣。
- He and he only can do this.
  他，只有他才能做這件事。
and 用以代替「假設子句」。
- Work hard and you will succeed.
  = If you work hard, you will succeed.
  
  努力工作，你就會成功。
and 用以代替「to 不定詞」。
- Come and see us.
  = Come to see us.
  
  來看我們。

累積連結詞 Copulative Conjunction 或稱聯結連接詞，以聯結兩個對等事物而成為一個整合的連接詞。

and 和、與、而且

and是最常用聯結連接詞，通常用於連接兩個對等的事物，有多種的表達意涵。
- He mastered Japanese and Vietnanese.
  他精通日語跟越南話。
not only 甲 but also 乙不但甲而且乙

「not only 甲 but also 乙」，甲跟乙必須是同樣的詞類，如果該片語擔任主詞時，動詞應與乙形成一致。
- He is not only intelligent but also diligent.
  他不止聰明也很用功。
甲 as well as 乙甲跟乙一樣
as well as 片語連接詞聯結二個對等事物，「甲 as well as 乙」當主詞時重點在於甲，使用的動詞必須與甲一致。
- Some owls can see well enough in sunlight to hunt by day as well as by night.
  某些在陽光下看得見的貓頭鷹日以繼夜的狩獵。
neither 甲 nor 乙即不是甲也不是乙

「neither 甲 nor 乙」是帶有否定意義的聯結連接詞，甲跟乙必須是同樣的詞類。
- I neither gamble nor buy lottery tickets.
  我即不賭博也不買彩券。
both 甲 and 乙 甲跟乙兩者皆

「both 甲 and 乙」表示即是甲也是乙，換言之就是「甲乙兩者皆…」。甲、乙必須是相同的詞類。「both 甲 and 乙」作為主詞時，動詞採用複數形式。
- Both you and I are wrong.
  你跟我都錯了。

選擇連接詞 Alternative Conjunction
選擇連接詞是在兩個事物中選擇一個時使用的連接詞，例如「or」、「either 甲 or 乙」。

或
or表示「…或…」，例如「甲or乙」表達「不是甲就是乙」的意思。
- Whick do you like better, coffee or tea ?
  你比較喜歡喝咖啡還是茶？
- Either you or I am wrong.
  不是你錯了，就是我錯了。
祈使句 + or
「祈使句 + or」表示要不然，這形式中的or連接詞可換成「otherwiese」、「or else」。
- Hurry up, or you well be late.
  快點，不然你就遲到了。
也就是說

or 表示「也就是說」、「換句話說」，引導至更合理的說法。
- He is majoring in geology, or the science of the earth's crust.
  他正在主修地質學，也就是研究地殼的科學。
否定句
or用於否定句，代表全部否定。
- I am not good at baseball or basketball.
  我對棒球和籃球都不擅長。
either 甲 or 乙

「either 甲 or 乙」代表選擇對等的連接詞，甲跟乙的詞性必須要相同。
- Either you or your teacher is mistaken.
  不是你錯了，就是你的老師錯了。

that 引導名詞子句作為主詞、主詞補語或同位語時，that不能省略
- That you did not come on time is a pity.
  你昨天沒有準時前來真是可惜。
that引導名詞子句作為受詞時，that常可省略。
- He told me (that) he fell in love.
  他告訴我他戀愛了。
that 引導名詞子句做為補語/同位語，that經常可以省略。
- It is sure (that) the earth moves around the sun.
  地球繞著太陽公轉是不變的。

or 表示「…或…」的意思。
- Whick do you like better, coffee or tea ?
  你比較喜歡喝咖啡還是茶？
- Either you or I am wrong.
  不是你錯了，就是我錯了。
or 「祈使句 + or」表示要不然。

  快點，不然你就遲到了。
